Joy Division were a band that only existed for four years, breaking up after main leader Ian Curtis killed himself at the age of 23. But in that time they recorded 53 songs, 19 of which appeared across two albums. That gives us 34 songs to make a third album out of but we only need about ten. Since then there have been a couple compilation albums that try to include all the songs like Still and Substance. However this album tries to take that material and form it into a third album.
The album Still was a 2 LP set but the first record was all mostly studio outtakes except for the last track which was a live cover of a Velvet Underground set. It's also ten tracks so I thought it would be a good place to start but we would have to replace the last track with some more tracks. One of the tracks though is the B-side Dead Souls which would later go on to be a popular track. I took out the last track and replaced it with tracks from Substance.
