Bad News - S/T (1987)

1. Hey Hey Bad News
2. Warriors of Genghis Khan
3. Bohemian Rhapsody
4. Bad News
5. Masturbike
6. Drink Till I Die
7. Pretty Woman
8. Life With Brian
9. Cashing In on Christmas

Bad News were a parody hair metal band that was created for a British TV show and was most well-known for their cover of Bohemian Rhapsody. I was inspired to make a post about this album when I saw that it only had 6 tracks when it was originally released but 22 tracks when reissued. I thought that I could find a middle ground. But there were a lot of spoken word tracks that I cut.

17. Ed is Dead

The Pixies first came out with a mini-album before they released their first album in 1988. They made a demo tape but took 8 of the songs to release on the mini-album and officially released the rest as an EP in 2002, but most of the remaining songs had been re-recorded and released on their later albums. For example, Vamos shows up on both Come On Pilgrim and Surfer Rosa but Subbacultcha doesn't show up till their last album. The album version of I'm Amazed had some studio banter at the beginning which I cut out, and the album version of Broken Face had a messed up intro which I used the demo as a reference to fix. The only exclusives to the album are Rock a My Soul and a cover of the song In Heaven from Eraserhead.

Going through the deluxe edition of Sign O' the Times, it had three discs of bonus tracks but the tracks that made up the last double album was mostly featured on the first disc. So these tracks are made up of the second and third discs of bonus tracks. Prince was working on two double album projects at the time but wanted to release this one as a triple album. The label made him cut it down to a double album, but he later said he wanted to release The Black Album the same year. He pulled it at the last minute and later released it in 1994 so he could've released this. Then he released a triple album of outtakes in 1998.

11. Seems Like Old Times (1978)
12. Return to Pepperland (1987)

In 1987, Paul McCartney had two projects going on, a studio album called Return to Pepperland and a compilation album idea he'd been toying with for the past decade called Cold Cuts. Neither one got released but most tracks got released on other things, and Paul released a compilation album called All the Best! instead. However some tracks remain unreleased. From Cold Cuts, the unreleased tracks are Cage, Did We Meet Somewhere Before?, Robber's Ball, and Waterspout. On Return to Pepperland, the unreleased tracks are Big Day, Lindiana, Return to Pepperland, and Peacocks. Waterspout was supposed to be released on All the Best! but a different song got released instead called Once Upon a Long Ago.

This is a well-known album in the unreleased album community so I wanted to put a spin on it. I took these 8 tracks and wanted to see what other unreleased Paul songs are out there. The Cold Cuts project was being worked on as early as 1974 but I decided to start at 1977 so the songs would be at least a decade old at that point like Waterspout. The Tug of War sessions gave us a lot of unreleased tracks we could potentially use like Boil Crisis. Some of the tracks would be played on Paul's Oobu Joobu radio show from around the Flaming Pie era.
