5. I Hate Myself and Want to Die (Demo)
6. Milk It (Demo)
7. Moist Vagina (Demo)
8. Gallons of Rubbing Alcohol Flow Through the Strip
9. I Hate Myself and Want to Die

15.  Pennyroyal Tea (Demo)
16.  You Know You're Right (Demo)
17.  Jesus Doesn't Want Me for a Sunbeam
18.  Radio-Friendly Unit Shifter/My Sharona (Live 1994)
19.  Sappy (Live 1994)
20.  Baba O’Riley (Live 1994)

This has been a daunting task to try to re-compile this thing. I had a whole alternate universe Nirvana box set made years ago, but I had to give it a major overhaul. This is based on the box set they put out in 2004 called With the Lights Out which had 3 CDs and a DVD. My initial version of it had 5 discs, but after a major overhaul it expanded to 8 CDs which I cut down to 7 CDs. So it'll take me a while to get through each disc.

For example it's taken us 7 discs to get through the original box set's 3 discs and yet here we are. It first starts with the In Utero demos and B-sides from 1993 but includes a few more. However I cut out The Other Improv as I used it as a bonus track on my album Bliss to mirror Gallons of Rubbing Alcohol Flow Through the Strip being used as a bonus track to In Utero. Marigold is from the Heart-Shaped Box single and Sappy was featured as a hidden track on the No Alternative compilation album. I ended it with some live tracks from 1994.

My initial version of it had 5 discs, but after a major overhaul it expanded to 8 CDs which I cut down to 7 CDs. So it'll take me a while to get through each disc.

For example it's taken us 6 discs to get to the original third disc, however now that we're here, it seems that chronology goes out the window, so this features some new tracks. The end of disc 2 had some tracks I already used on Incesticide and the You Know You're Right EP, so I included a demo of Frances Farmer from the same sessions. I also included the single The "Priest" They Called Him which was a collaboration between Kurt and William S. Burroughs released in 1993, as well as a rehearsal from when Nirvana played SNL in 1992.

For example in the second disc we were basing this off of we left off at track 9. Track 10 is the demo for Smells Like Teen Spirit. The track was taken from a band rehearsal tape that was later found, however the demo for Come As You Are would be released on the Sliver: Best of the Box album. Next is the previously unheard outtakes Verse Chorus Verse and Old Age which I included on my version of Nevermind so in its place I included the Nevermind version of Sappy since I used the Smart City version of it on Sheep. Next is a John Peel session which I added the track Drain You onto. And then next is some tracks I already used so I replaced them with live tracks.

22.  Token Eastern Song (Demo)
23.  On a Plain (Demo #1)
24.  Oh, the Guilt (Demo)

For example the original first disc took me three discs to get through in the expanded version. Now that we're on the fourth disc which is based on the second disc, I noticed there was a year long gap between September 1989 and September 1990. So the second disc doesn't actually begin until track 16, though the first track is Opinion which I used on the You Know You're Right EP so I cut it out. Before it though you got a demo of Sappy which was featured on the Sliver: Best of the Box album and a live version of Sappy which was featured on the With the Lights Out DVD. After it I cut out Aneurysm which I used on my version on Nevermind and replaced it with tracks from the same session.

20.  Dive (Demo)
21.  Polly (1989 Demo)

For example I had to do a bit of backtracking with this one as I was finishing off the original first disc. The first 13 tracks consists of Fecal Matter's only demo tape Illiteracy Will Prevail from 1986. Only the demo for Spank Thru was officially released on the Sliver: Best of the Box album. Later the whole demo tape was found. Next I included three live tracks from 1988 like the last disc. We left off on track 15 of the original disc. Track 16 is Blandest which I used on Ashamed to Be Human, so in its place I included some Bleach demos from the same session. I used the Lead Belly covers and Blew EP session tracks on my version of Incesticide but kept Dive and Polly.

21.  About a Girl (Demo)
22.  Creation
23.  Black & White Blues
24.  Escalator to Hell
25.  Montage of Heck (Short Version)

For example in the last disc we left off at track 4 of the original disc. Track 5 was a previously unheard song called Mrs. Butterworth, although I since then used it for Ashamed to Be Human under the name New Union. However the whole band rehearsal tape that the song came from was later found, and it revealed another mysterious song known by fans as Weirdo. The next tracks were the also previously unheard Pen Cap Chew and If You Must which I also used for ATBH. In place of them I used the original mixes for Floyd the Barber and Paper Cuts from that same session. I then went with the same live tracks from 1988 that they did, however with the next batch of demos I took out Clean Up Before She Comes which I used for Free From Chains and added the last four tracks. Black and White Blues would be released on Montage of Heck.

17.  Hairspray Queen (#2) (Live 1987)
18.  Pen Cap Chew (#2) (Live 1987)
19.  Vendetagainst (Live 1987)

My initial version of it had 5 discs, but after a major overhaul it expanded to 8 CDs which I cut down to 7 CDs. So it'll take me a while to get through each disc.

For example, the first track off the first disc was a cover of a Led Zeppelin song thought to have been from the first show. And not only was the whole show later found but it also turned out to not be their first show. So this CD is based on the first four tracks, of which tracks 4, 14, 16, and 19 originate from. Tracks 1 to 9 come from an early show and tracks 10 to 19 come from a radio gig.

Nirvana - Free From Chains (1999)

1. All Wet, Yet Nice
2. Dweller
3. This Would Last
4. Self Interest
5. As It Is
6. Insomnia
7. Lecture One
8. Lovely Guts
9. Anorexorcist
10. Nobody Knows I'm New Wave
11. Vendetagainst
12. White Lace and Strange
13. Clean Up Before She Comes

The first eight songs would mostly use AI generated Kurt Cobain soundalike vocals but are all original songs. The next five songs also use AI vocals but are based on unreleased Nirvana songs. This would also represent their final contractually obligated album, freeing them from their contract. So with no contract and the millennium about to happen, who knows what awaits them?

Nirvana - Heaven is a Hoax (1997)

1. Drowned in the Sun
2. Suffer
3. Lavender
4. Flower on a Grave
5. Cuts
6. Like New (feat. Layne Staley)
7. Star
8. Dream Song
9. Culture Abuse
10. Come on Death
11. Seattle Abridged
12. Vasectomy in Four Countries

In my Nirvana alternate universe discography, I only made one posthumous album which was Bliss from 1995 because I didn't feel as though there was enough material to make a second one. But in the years since then, there were a lot of fan made Nirvana albums being uploaded to YouTube, some tracks using Kurt soundalike AI vocals to make completely new songs. The most famous example would be Drowned in the Sun, which was supposedly all created by AI to sound like a Nirvana song but was uploaded by a YouTuber named Good Luck Chuck. Then there was the fan made song Smother which had AI written lyrics that were in the style of Nirvana but was recorded by a YouTuber named Kurt Connor. However I feel like this one is less original, but I found a similarly named song called Suffer made by If Kurt Cobain Lived.

The idea for this person's album is that by 2000, Kurt Cobain was working on his first solo album, but it would be intentionally unlistenable to piss off any record executive that would be interested in releasing it. I loved this idea, especially the idea that at least one track would be a sound collage made from the experimental tracks from the Montage of Heck soundtrack. This can be represented on the track Culture Abuse. Lavender might be an answer song to Hole's Violet, and some other songs like Flower on a Grave could also be a hit single. The instrumentation was all fan made which gives some songs a loose feeling and make some vocals sound more robotic.

Technically there were some fan made band mockups that I didn't use on the last album, as well as tracks from the Foo Fighters' album The Colour and the Shape, though the idea of making a solo album with songs that used AI vocals intrigued me. There is also the idea of simply using songs by obscure bands that sounded like Nirvana, though I don't necessarily like this idea.

Aphex Twin - Analogue Bubblebath (1992)
