Smashing Pumpkins - Landslide (EP) + Rocket (EP) (1994)

1. Landslide (Fleetwood Mac Cover)
2. Soothe
3. Purr Snickety
4. Apathy's Last Kiss
5. Bye June
6. Siamese Dream

1. Rocket
2. Glynis
3. Spaced

The compilation album Pisces Iscariot didn't yield any singles but it scored one big hit with the cover of Landslide by Fleetwood Mac which was originally included on the Disarm single. It was the only track from the album to be included on the Rotten Apples greatest hits album. Also there were a couple acoustic songs that I excluded from the album. So I thought I'd make Landslide a single and since their EPs are so long I can include all the acoustic bonus tracks. After that I found out that Rocket was a promotional single, and I had some heavy bonus tracks.

Smashing Pumpkins - Rawk (1994)

1. There It Goes
2. Jennifer Ever
3. East
4. Nothing and Everything
5. Sun
6. My Dahlia
7. With You
8. Stars Fall In
9. Psychedelic
10. Jesus is the Sun
11. Translucent
12. Jesus Loves His Babies
13. STP
14. Moleasskiss

Admittedly I had a lot of fun going through Smashing Pumpkins' discography for this month. I wanted to see what other songs they had buried in the cracks, and it turned out to be a lot! This can be seen as a chronological history of the band up to Siamese Dream, but most of these tracks can be found on reissues of their first two albums and Pisces Iscariot.

Smashing Pumpkins - Pisces Iscariot (1994)

1. Daughter
2. Frail and Bedazzled
3. Plume
4. Whir
5. Blew Away
6. Pissant
7. Hello Kitty Kat
8. Obscured
9. Not Worth Asking
10. Honey Spider
11. Blue
12. Smiley
13. La Vita Dolly
14. Slunk
15. Drown
16. Speed

Hey did know that Billy Corgan once said that he almost had enough material to make Siamese Dream a double album? That's apparently true since in between Siamese Dream and MCIS they released a compilation album called Pisces Iscariot. Though it didn't include all of their early work and included a few covers instead.

Alice in Chains - Jar of Flies (1994)

1. Rotten Apple
2. Nutshell
3. I Stay Away
4. No Excuses
5. Don't Follow
6. Swing on This
7. Brother
8. Got Me Wrong
9. Right Turn
10. Am I Inside?

In between recording Alice in Chains' albums Dirt and S/T, they recorded two acoustic EPs. In fact Jar of Flies would go on to be the first EP to get #1 on the charts and the single from the EP No Excuses would also get to #1. But it wasn't even their first acoustic EP. Their first one would be Sap which came out the same year as Dirt. I combined the tracks from both EPs but took out two tracks. At 45 minutes it would've been their shortest album.

Frank Zappa - Civilization Phase III (1994)

1. Put a Motor in Yourself
2. They Made Me Eat It
3. Reagan at Bitburg
4. Navanax
5. Xmas Values
6. Amnerika
7. Buffalo Voice
8. Get a Life
9. Secular Humanism
10. I Was in a Drum
11. A Pig With Wings
12. Gross Man
13. Why Not?
14. Dio Fa
15. Waffenspiel

This is a single disc version of Frank Zappa's album Civilization Phase III, the last album he was working on before he died. Most of these tracks were made with the Synclavier which had taken over Frank's creative process for about a decade by that point. He first started using it on the 1986 album Jazz From Hell and this is his first album of original music since then. The project originated in the '60s and featured short clips of people talking inside a piano as well as some newly recorded dialogue that I cut out. There were also two long songs I had to cut out and two other songs had dialogue in it that I cut out.

John Frusciante - Smile From the Streets You Hold (1994)

1. Enter a Uh
2. The Other
3. Life’s a Bath
4. A Fall Through the Ground
5. Poppy Man
6. I’m Always
7. Femininity
8. Breathe
9. Usually Just a T-Shirt
10. Height Down
11. Well I’ve Been
12. Smile From the Streets You Hold

This is John Frusciante’s second solo album which he released in 1997, although most of the tracks were recorded around the same time as his first one. My plan was to take out the tracks that were recorded after the first album came out and replace them with tracks I liked from Usually Just a T-Shirt, but only three of the tracks were recorded in between the two albums and most of the tracks on Usually were instrumental, so I took those out but also took out three more tracks and put in one track from Usually which was the bonus track on the cassette.

Both albums were taken off the market when Frusciante rejoined the Peppers in 1998, only for the first one to get reissued in 1999. There was talk of this one getting reissued too but it never happened. Two of the songs feature Rivers Phoenix before his passing and were intended to be released on the first album but got dropped till the second album.

John Frusciante - Niandra LeDes (1994)

1. As Can Be
2. My Smile is a Rifle
3. Head (Beach Arab)
4. Big Takeover (Bad Brains Cover)
5. Curtains
6. Running Away Into You
7. Ants
8. Mascara
9. Outside Space
10. Been Insane
11. Skin Blues
12. Your Pussy's Glued to a Building on Fire
13. Blood on My Neck from Success
14. Ten to Butter Blood Voodoo

This was John Frusciante's debut solo album after leaving the Red Hot Chili Peppers in 1992. It was recorded in two parts called Niandra LaDes and Usually Just a T-Shirt under the influence of heroin, but the cassette release included the bonus track Ants and the Estrus EP from 1997 included the song Outside Space that was left off the original release. Also both parts were 40 minutes long, about as long as an album, but were released as one cassette. The second part was described as “weird and experimental” so I just included the first part but cut out the outros to Running Away Into You and Mascara.

13. Cut 1/2 Blues
14. Ozzy
15. Satan Gave Me a Taco
16. Tasergun
17. Modesto

Hey this is my first post in a couple months. Here's a weird one for you. Similarly to Daniel Johnston, I had been wanting to put something out about Beck for a while. It's the first of three albums he released in 1994, this one being described as "a grab bag" and "anti-commercial". It was put on streaming last year for the first time where it added a couple noise tracks. "Noise 1" is the intro to No Money No Honey, "Noise 2" is the outro to One Foot in the Grave, and "Noise 3" is the intro to Aphid Manure Heist.

I got rid of the first two tracks but kept the third cause it sounded melodic and also the track would be a minute long without it. I cut out all the short tracks but also edited Today Has Been a Fucked Up Day and cut out the intro to Rollins Power Sauce. There was also a really long noise track at the end of the album that I cut out. The album didn't have any singles but I would pick Rowboat and Satan Gave Me a Taco.

35. Kirchie's Song
36. Wingtips
37. Election Song

This is a 2 CD version of Modest Mouse's album Sad Sappy Sucker. It was recorded in 1994 and intended to be their debut album but it wouldn't get released until 2001 after the popularity of their album The Moon and Antarctica. The released version had 15 songs and 9 bonus tracks which came from a Dial-a-Song service the band ran at the time which was similar to TMBG's Dial-a-Song. The only person that left a message was Spencer Moody of the Murder City Devils.

There was also a demo tape on cassette with the same name that came out the same year but the only tracks they shared in common were the bonus tracks which were mostly 30 seconds long so I cut out all of those except for the message. The original tape had a lot of good stuff on it so I don't know why they didn't use it. The original album tracks comprise of tracks 1-9 and then 21b-23. The first disc makes up the real album and the second disc makes up the solo stuff since I cut out the Dial-a-Song stuff. Also the tracks Classy Plastic Lumber and Play Taps began with the same spoken word intro so I cut it out on both of them so they would be 1:26 long.

Nirvana - You Know You're Right (EP) (1994)

1. You Know You're Right
2. Do Re Mi
3. Ivy League
4. Curmudgeon
5. Oh, the Guilt
6. Opinion

This is the 6-track EP that would've been sold at Lollapalooza in 1994. I'm making this EP 4 years after the last time I worked on this alternate universe Nirvana discography. There would've only been one posthumous fourth album cause there wouldn't be enough material to make an imaginary fifth one. The first three tracks would've definitely been on the EP cause they were the only tracks that were definitely recorded in 1994. These tracks reappear on the album "Bliss".

The first track is a remix in the style of In Utero that I found on YouTube. The next two tracks as well as track 6 are band mockups mostly done by the YouTube channel The Beginning of Music. The next two tracks probably wouldn't have been on the EP, but they were the only pre-In Utero B-sides I hadn't used yet. Track 6 is a song that's been a mystery rarity to fans. It's only been recorded as a 1990 demo from an acoustic live radio performance, but an unsurfaced studio version from 1994 is said to exist.

Nirvana - Serve the Servants (EP) (1994)

1. Serve the Servants
2. Dumb
3. Gallons of Rubbing Alcohol Flowing Through the Strip (Edit)

The "Serve the Servants" single with "Dumb" would've been released as a kind of double A-side (part-"All Apologies", part-"Heart-Shaped Box") with an edited shorter version of "Gallons of Rubbing Alcohol Flow Through the Strip". I had to go with something from the January 1993 session cause all the non-album stuff from the February 1993 session was turned into B-sides.

Godspeed You Black Emperor! – All Lights Fucked on the Hairy Amp Drooling (1994)

Side A:
1. Shot Thru Tubes
2. Three Three Three
3. When All the Furnaces Exploded
4. Beep
5. Hush
6. Son of a Diplomat, Daughter of a Politician
7. $13.13
8. Random Luvly Moncton Blues
9. Dadmomdaddy

Side B:
10. 333 Frames Per Second
11. Revisionist Alternatif Wounds to the Haircut Hit Head
12. Buried Ton
13. Hoarding
14. All Angels Gone
15. Deterior 17
16. Deterior Three
17. Dress Like Shit

This is my attempt at a single cassette release of Godspeed's first demo from before their first album. I also got rid of any noisy or spoken word interludes that were in between the songs. Like I did with Trout Mask Replica, condensing it down to such lengths meant that I had to get rid of a couple of tracks that I liked. But I think the end result is enough to capture the sound of the band.

36. Planet's Own Brand
37. Taco, Buffalo, Birddog, and Jesus
38. Supermarket the Moon

This is my answer to the question: What if Guided by Voices had released Bee Thousand as a double album like they intended? The Director's Cut was mostly based on an earlier version of it that was gonna have two LPs, but if we're really gonna imagine it as a double album, then the first two sides would be the two sides of Bee Thousand, the third side would be based on the second side of King Shit and the Golden Boys, and the fourth side mops up the rest of the best from the Director's Cut and the first Suitcase as well as the "I Am a Scientist" EP.

For the second LP, I tried to stay away from songs that would later end up on an album, like "Don't Stop Now" on Under the Bushes, Under the Trees and "Crocker's Favorite Song" on Class Clown Spots a UFO. Though its track listing at 38 is the same as the abridged version of the Director's Cut. Just for reference, there were 64 songs that were at one point gonna be on Bee Thousand. Officially there were 65 but I couldn't find the last one. Some songs had multiple names though and one song (Scissors and the Blue Ox) was listed incorrectly.

Aphex Twin - Analogue Bubblebath (1992)
